    Introduction to collaborative research

There is a recent trend in successful cases of Korean video narrative where the viewer imitates the product or its related agenda. This shows that the viewers do not intake the video narrative in a unilateral fashion, but imitate the actions and attire of the individuals in the video, take an interest in the socio-cultural background of Korea, and reproduce its related social agenda. Why do the viewers not stop at the initial intake but rather perform imitation and reproduction and form discourse? What do these actions mean for the potential and expandability of Korean video narrative?
The Center of Future Cultural Convergence designs collaborative research for further investigation, and analyzes the effect video narrative has on the viewers and the discourse reproduction process through the viewers.

    • To approach Korean video narrative in an interdisciplinary approach of fusion between humanities and social science to understand the relationship between video narrative and social discourse.

    • Inclusively and systematically supplement previous researches that were focused on analyzing discourse phenomena per video in the context of social empathy sphere, and reinterpret it in the form of discourse and empathy sphere. Through this method we suggest Korean video narrative can act as a ‘foundational empathy sphere’ by resonating with universal emotion and sentiments. This can become a practical and foundational research that empirically proves Korean video narrative possesses a sustainable discursive diffusion characteristic towards the global demographic.
